Join Le Antonio’s Foundation Youth Conference 2015 in welcoming Registered Nurse and Midwife Victoria Melhado as a guest speaker at our Youth Conference on November 5, 2015 .
Ms. Victoria Melhado is a Jamaican youth leader, author and advocate who has spearheaded several successful Anti-Child abuse and Anti-Human Trafficking initiatives. Victoria is an active member of several committees at the Nurses Association of Jamaica and was the youngest winner at that time, to cop the prestigious National Nurse of the Year 2012-2013 title. Victoria was recognized by the Caribbean Nurses Organization as an outstanding Regional Nurse of the Year (Oct. 2014). She is also a past facilitator for a support group of persons living with HIV/AIDS and is a featured ‘Vital Voice’ in the Pulitzer Centre for Crisis Reporting 2007 Documentary on ‘LiveHopeLove.com.’
In September 2012, she represented Jamaica as a youth leader at the CIVICUS World and Youth Assemblies in Montreal, Canada, where she Co-chaired youth discussions on the Post- 2015 Agenda. In May 2013, Victoria represented Jamaica at the Women Deliver Conference in Kuala Lumpar, Malaysia ‘among 100 Young Leaders from across the world’. She was also a part of the Jamaican delegation to International Council of Nurses 25th Quadrennial Congress in Melbourne, Australia. Melhado was one of 6 young midwife contest winners sponsored by Ipas to the 30th Triennial Congress of the International Confederation of Midwives, Prague, Czech Republic, June – 2014.
Victoria Melhado is the author of the books ‘Be Inspired!’ (A book of inspirational poems) and ‘7 Secrets of successful people’ (Personal Development). She is also the Founder and President of ‘Be Inspired International’ (A Community Based Charity). She received the Prime Minister’s ‘Youth in Service’ Award of Excellence in 2011 and was appointed in March 2014, a National ‘I Believe’ Ambassador by the Governor General, His Excellency Sir Patrick Allen, in the National leadership and mentorship ‘I Believe’ Initiative. Ms. Melhado was recognized in May 2015 as an Associate Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth Society for her outstanding voluntary contributions.
